All applicants who are eligible for Masa funding see below must apply to Masa before submitting a financial aid application to Pardes. Pardes is a qualified institution for the deferment of most U. Government student loans. Request a loan deferment form from your loan provider. Masa offers either automatic grants or needs-based scholarships to eligible applicants. Any remaining funds are paid out to the student in monthly installments during the program to assist with living expenses.
Applicants from outside North America should check the Masa website to determine the amount of the award for their country.
Awards are limited in number and students are encouraged to apply early. In some cases, an interview may be required. The Hasidism Research Fellow will work together with Levi Cooper on the editing and production of his forthcoming book: Hasidic Relics. It is an opportunity to analyze, both textually and historically, a wide range of passages from most of the authors and works of late First-Temple through sixteenth-century-CE Jewries as discussions of practical wisdom.
The Research Fellow will work together with Judy Klitsner on the organizing and production of her book on Power in the Bible. It will engage in close, unapologetic readings of difficult biblical texts, and will compare and contrast biblical stories that share much in language and in theme.
The book will be a further volume in the growing Pardes faculty library that has successfully showcased the Torah of our thriving Beit Midrash. The Rabbinic Literature Fellow will assist Gila Fine in her research on the women of the Talmud, through guided exploration into rabbinic literature, ancient myth, medieval folktale, and modern fiction and film. The fellow will learn to apply the principles of archetypal analysis to the reading of rabbinic literature and will research parallel archetypes, tropes, and motifs in literature throughout history and across cultures.
